Orange oil
Orange Oil – Sunny Freshness from Distillation 🍊
Fruity. Warm. Invigorating.
The scent of fresh oranges is one of the most pleasant and familiar aromas of all. It evokes sunny days, Mediterranean landscapes, and a feeling of lightness and well-being. During the distillation of orange peels, a small amount of pure orange oil is produced alongside the hydrolate – a particularly intense and valuable natural product.
This natural oil contains the concentrated fragrances of orange peel. Its warm, fruity aroma has a mood-lifting, invigorating, and at the same time gently relaxing effect. Just a few drops are enough to enrich rooms, care products, or creative DIY projects with a natural citrus scent.
With the @DiFUMA distiller and your kitchen machine like Thermomix®, Monsieur Cuisine®, or Bosch Cookit®, you can easily extract this aromatic orange oil yourself – directly from fresh orange peels.

🍰 Aromatic kitchen ideas
Used very sparingly, orange oil can add an intense citrus aroma to desserts or pastries.
Making the Orange Oil - Orange peels chopped in water
This method produces a stronger, more aromatic hydrolate.

Ingredients
- 1 liter of water
Peels of 3-4 organic oranges
Preparation: Wash orange peels and thinly peel from the fruit, roughly chop. Place peels in the mixing bowl. Briefly chop for 5 seconds on level 8. Add water.
Place the lid with the distiller (@DiFUMA) and start as per the instructions – depending on the kitchen machine:
- Thermomix® TM6: 45 Min. | Varoma® | Speed 1
- Thermomix® TM7: 45 Min. | Steam | Speed 2.5
- Monsieur Cuisine®: 45 Min. | Steam | Speed 1
- Bosch Cookit®: 45 Min. | 130 °C | Speed 1 with stirring tool
After 15-20 minutes, the hydrolate, with the oil droplets, begins to drip into the collection vessel – an oil separator is recommended here. Collect in a clean, sterile container. After cooling, transfer to a spray bottle and/or bottle or separate the oil.
Separate the oil
The orange oil can be carefully removed from the surface with a pipette. Then pour into a small dark glass bottle.
Storage and Notes
- Always store orange oil in a cool, dark place
- Best kept in dark glass bottles
- Use very sparingly, as it is highly concentrated
- With proper storage, it can last for several months
