Gänseblümchen Hydrolat

Daisy Hydrosol

Daisy Hydrosol – even gentler than many other hydrosols

Gentle. Floral. Balancing.

The scent of daisies is delicate, slightly floral, and reminiscent of fresh spring meadows. It embodies naturalness, purity, and a calm, harmonious aura. The distillation of daisies primarily produces an exceptionally mild hydrosol – a fine plant water with versatile applications.

This natural hydrosol contains the water-soluble components of the blossoms. Its gentle, balancing effect makes it a wonderful companion for everyday use – especially for sensitive skin and serene moments of well-being.

With the @DiFUMA distiller and your food processor like Thermomix®, Monsieur Cuisine® or Bosch Cookit®, you can easily make this fine daisy hydrosol yourself – directly from freshly picked blossoms.

The effect of daisy hydrosol

Daisies have always been known for their gentle, nourishing properties. Their hydrosol has a mild, calming, and harmonizing effect.

The natural plant compounds can:

* calm and nourish the skin
* provide a fresh, clear skin feeling
* have a balancing and gentle effect
* create relaxed moments of well-being

Precisely because of its mild properties, the hydrosol is also particularly well-suited for sensitive applications.

Making your own daisy hydrosol

This variant results in a particularly mild, floral hydrosol.

Ingredients

·        1 liter water

·        2–3 handfuls of fresh daisies (flower heads)

Preparation: Collect daisies (not directly near heavily trafficked roads) and wash/shake off briefly if necessary.

Roughly chop or lightly press the flowers and place them in the cooking basket. Add water to the mixing bowl.

Place the lid with the distiller (@DiFUMA) on top and start as per the instructions – depending on the food processor:

    • Thermomix® TM6: 45 min. | Varoma® | Speed 1
    • Thermomix® TM7: 45 min. | Steam cooking | Speed 2.5
    • Monsieur Cuisine®: 45 min. | Steam cooking | Speed 1
    • Bosch Cookit®: 45 min. | 130 °C | Speed 1 with stirring tool

After approx. 15–20 minutes, the hydrosol will begin to drip into the collection vessel. Collect it in a clean, sterile vessel and transfer to a spray bottle or glass bottle after cooling.

Oil content Daisies generally do not produce a visible essential oil. The focus here is entirely on the valuable hydrosol.

Storage and notes

·        Always store hydrosol in a cool, dark place

·        Best kept in the refrigerator

·        Work cleanly for optimal shelf life

·        Use within approx. 6–12 months

Daisy hydrolat is a wonderful example of how a gentle and versatile natural product can be made from simple, native plants 🌼✨
