Outdoor Max-Mückenspray Hydrolat

Outdoor Max Mosquito Spray Hydrosol

Outdoor Max Mosquito Spray Hydrosol – the natural fresh scent for outdoors Herbaceous. Lemony. Refreshing.

The scent of lemon balm, lemon thyme, lavender, sage, and rosemary combines fresh citrus notes with spicy herbal aromas. Lemon thyme in particular gives this hydrosol its characteristic fragrance, making the mixture a popular companion for time spent in the garden, on the patio, while camping, or on hikes.

Distillation creates a pleasantly fresh-smelling hydrosol – a natural plant water containing the water-soluble components of the herbs used. It is perfect as a body spray or for clothes and textiles in outdoor settings.

With the @DiFUMA distillation attachment and your food processor such as Thermomix®, Monsieur Cuisine®, or Bosch Cookit®, you can easily make this herbal hydrosol yourself – straight from freshly picked plants.

How to make Outdoor Max Mosquito Spray Hydrosol

This recipe makes an especially fresh, lemony-herbaceous hydrosol.

Ingredients

  • 1 liter of water
  • 5 stems of lemon balm
  • 2–3 sprigs of lemon thyme (crucial for the intense scent profile)
  • 1 handful of lavender blossoms
  • 2/3 sprigs of rosemary
  • 1/2 small sprig of sage
  • 2 stems of peppermint (for an extra fresh fragrance note)

Preparation: Harvest the herbs as fresh as possible and gently rinse if necessary. Let them dry a little. Then gently press or coarsely chop them and place them in the steaming basket. Fill the basket loosely with the herbs (max. ¾ full). Do not pack them down – the steam needs to circulate well so that the fragrances are extracted optimally. Pour the water into the mixing bowl.

Place the lid with the still (@DiFUMA) on top and start according to the instructions – depending on the food processor:

    • Thermomix® TM6: 45 min | Varoma® | speed 1
    • Thermomix® TM7: 45 min | Steam cooking | speed 2.5
    • Monsieur Cuisine®: 45 min | Steam cooking | speed 1
    • Bosch Cookit®: 45 min | 130 °C | speed 1 with stirring tool

After approx. 15 minutes, the hydrosol will start dripping into the collection container. Collect in a clean, sterile container and, once cooled, transfer to a spray bottle or glass bottle.
