The tart, fresh scent of rhubarb is one of nature's most extraordinary fragrances—green, clear, and delicately tart. Especially in spring, when the rhubarb plants are at their full potential, the stalks are not only a culinary delight, but also rich in plant-based active ingredients and natural freshness.

Use of rhubarb hydrolate

Rhubarb hydrolate

1.      1 liter of water in the mixing bowl of the Thermomix Ò or Monsieur Cuisine Ò and Bosch Cookit Ò give.

  1. Fill the rhubarb pieces loosely into the steamer basket (max. ¾ full). The pieces should not be too tightly packed. Recommendation: Use (organic) rhubarb or rhubarb from your own garden.

3.      It is important that the cooking basket is well filled but loose to ensure that the steam can penetrate well through the thinly sliced ​​rhubarb pieces and optimally extract the essential oils.

4.       Put the lid on with the still (@DiFUMA) and start as per the instructions, depending on which food processor you have.

Example: 

Thermomix®: 45 min. | Varoma® | Level 1,

Monsieur Cuisine®: 45 min. | Steam cooking | Level 1,

Bosch Cookit®: 45 min | 130 °C | Level 1

5.      After 10-15 minutes, the hydrosol will drip into the collection container. Collect it in a clean, sterile container. Once cooled, pour it into a spray bottle.

 

A notice:

 -The spray bottle should be shaken vigorously before use so that the oils mix with the water.

 -Hydrolats should always be stored in a cool and dark place.
