Karotten-Hydrolat: Sonnengold in Flaschen

Carrot hydrosol: Sun gold in bottles

Warm. Gentle. Invigorating.

Carrots – the orange root vegetable bursting with sunshine – are known as a valuable source of vitamins in the kitchen. But did you know that a gently nourishing and surprisingly delicately scented hydrosol can be made from fresh carrots?

The scent? Subtly sweet, earthy, and fresh at the same time – a true insider tip in natural cosmetics. Carrot hydrosol brings the warm notes of summer to the skin and into the room. It is mild, soothing, and packed with plant-based active ingredients such as beta-carotene and natural antioxidants .

Carrots are not only a treasure for the kitchen – as homemade hydrosol, they become a true all-rounder for skin care, aromatherapy and room harmony.

With the @DiFUMA distillation system and your kitchen machine such as the Thermomix®, Monsieur Cuisine® or Bosch Cookit® you can easily capture and enjoy this sunny scent yourself.

Use of carrot hydrosol

Immerse yourself in the sunny world of carrot hydrosol and discover its versatile uses:

🌿 As a soothing facial toner – ideal for sensitive or dry skin, it has a balancing and moisturizing effect.
☀️ As a nourishing body spray that gently envelops and regenerates the skin after sunbathing or showering.
🍹 In drinks – add a few drops to the water for a gentle energy boost with a delicate sweetness.

Production of carrot hydrosol

  1. Wash fresh organic carrots thoroughly (do not peel!), cut into smaller pieces.
  2. Place the carrot pieces (approx. 250g) into the pot. Chop the pieces in a food processor for 10 seconds on speed 7.
  3. Add 1 liter of water to the mixing bowl of your Thermomix®, Monsieur Cuisine® or Bosch Cookit®.
  4. Place the lid on the still (@DiFUMA) and start as follows, depending on the device:
      • Thermomix®: 45 min. | Varoma® | Speed 1
    • Monsieur Cuisine®: 45 min. | Steam cooking | Level 1
      • Bosch Cookit®: 45 min. | 130 °C | Level 1
  5. After approximately 10–15 minutes, the hydrosol will begin to drip into the collecting container. This should be clean and sterile.
  6. After cooling, transfer the carrot hydrosol into a dark spray or dropper bottle.

Instructions for storage and use

  • Shake vigorously before use to ensure the fine plant components are well distributed.
  • Store in a cool, dark place – ideally in the refrigerator.
