Basil hydrolat - with the DiFUMA distillery - homemade
Basil belongs to the family Lamiaceae and grows as a low bush with delicate, light green, fragrant leaves and white to pink flowers.
Originally from India, the plant thrives worldwide in regions with stable and warm climates.
The plant owes its name to the Greek word "basileus", which means king and thus characterizes its exceptional status in ancient times. The plant came to Europe in the 12th century and is now a very well-known aromatic spice in Mediterranean cuisine.
There are numerous types of basil, which in different proportions produce the typical spicy-herbaceous basil scent and are known for their harmonizing effect on the nervous system.
